How confident are you?
Attacks on creative confidence happen to everyone. It can mean the difference between persevering and giving up. Don’t give up! Yesterday’s blog post was written just for you. 3 Offbeat Tips to Boost Your Writing Confidence.
Some of these tips were shared at the Crested Butte Writers Conference last summer. During conversations with other writers, I also learned a lot about how other writers address their fears and doubts. One woman said she is a complete believer in EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique. I’ve been learning it, and I’ll share what I’ve learned next week.
In the news…
It’s been a busy week around here. I’ve made some pretty significant changes to the website. Check it out and let me know what you think. More changes are coming. The weekly story starters will begin being published at a dedicated blog –RomanceStoryStarters.com. At Make a Living, we’ll focus more on creative confidence, inspiration, and tapping into your inner romance writer. Keep an eye open for free online courses, workshops and more.
I also released a new Story Starter report. If you haven’t had the chance to grab it, take a peek. At only .99, it’s less than a penny per idea – and one of them might just inspire your next bestseller.

What’s The Fundamental Difference Between Having Confidence In Your Writing And Not Having It?
It’s mindset, right?
Whether or not you feel confident has everything to do with how you think and what you believe about your writing skills.
Before we dive into this too deeply, it’s important to realize that you’re not alone. Every single writer experiences fear, doubt, and what’s often called limiting beliefs. I’m just certain that Nora Roberts and Stephen King both have moments of doubt about their writing or their ability to meet expectations – their own or those imposed on them.
Now the doubts that they experience and what gets them through may be slightly different than yours or mine, but the point is that fear and doubt are human – they’re emotions. And the great thing about emotions is that you’re in control of them. Once you realize this and fully embrace it, the rest is just a matter of practice.
Happy Writing!
